Teeth Cleaning

We first scrape off the plaque and tartar that may have accumulated on your teeth and under the gum line using a scaler. We then brush your teeth using an electric toothbrush and a special grainy paste before flossing between each one of your teeth.

Dental Exams

After rinsing your mouth clean, the health hygienist or dentist will inspect your mouth for signs of an infection or tooth decay. The gums will be checked for swelling and red pockets; your lower and upper teeth for teeth grinding or temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ); and your lymph glands, palate, cheek, lips and neck for oral cancer and other infections.

If disorders and infections are detected, you will be given a medical prescription or advised to make adjustments to your at-home oral hygiene routine.

Who qualifies for dental exam and cleaning?

Age and other factors such as medical history do not count when it comes dental examination. This is simply because there are hardly any potentially risky chemicals used in the procedure that could worsen a condition you already have. The procedure is however particularly important if you are under medication for an oral condition as it will help the dentist determine whether you’re making headway.
